The professional ring bearer

Michelle and Jack On Saturday my cousin Michelle married her longtime boyfriend Geoff, who we love and has been like a member of the family since she brought him home. They are living up in Truckee, so the wedding was at the Stanford Alpine Chalet where Geoff works, which is near Alpine Meadows. It was a gorgeous setting even with the thunderstorm that rolled in during dinner.

steffi's wedding 084.jpg They were kind enough to ask Jack to be the ring bearer. Jack loves weddings and specifically brides (who doesn’t love a wedding and a beautiful bride), so of course we said yes. His love affair started when he was in my sister Steffani’s wedding to Paul. He was only 17 months old, but walked down the aisle like an old pro. He was very serious in all the photos, but couldn’t have been cuter.  At 2.5 we attend my cousin Katie’s wedding to Travis (I have lots of cousins) and Jack couldn’t get enough of Katie. He would just stand and look at her. The next summer my cousin Joe married Amanda. Jack came to the ceremony and was in awe of Amanda.

Jack Nicole wedding Then at 4 our neighbor and babysitter Nicole asked Jack to be the ring bearer when she married Kyle. It was January in Seattle and could have been a miserable day, but it was beautiful and sunny. Jack had a mini version of the guys tuxedos. He was so excited to be involved and helped the little 2 year old flower girl down the aisle. At the reception he danced his feet off and fell asleep before we hit the freeway.

At my cousin Aaron’s wedding (told you I had a lot of cousins) to Megan in May of last year, Jack couldn’t wait to dance with Jack and MeghanMegan. He got his wish and had a wonderful night. In June my cousin Kendra married Michael. Jack and Kendra are very close, so he couldn’t wait to see her as a bride.

This brings us up to the latest wedding. Since he is now a pro at being a ring bearer with this being Kendra and Jackhis third time, he walked up to the little 2.5 year old flower girl at the rehearsal and asked her if she had done this before. When she said no, he told her that they needed to walk down the aisle holding hands. Then they held hands through most of the rehearsal. So cute.

Armstrong wedding On the wedding day, he couldn’t wait to see Michelle and then he said “Michelle is so beautiful.” He was the hit of the party having met some of Geoff’s family rafting the day before. Everyone wanted to give him a high five. He looked so handsome in his suit and purple tie (thanks Auntie Steffi for making it.) We successfully kept him clean through photos (thanks Aaron for cleaning his shoes.) He danced through dinner, stopping only when the music stopped and almost fell asleep in the bride’s arms. Aren’t Paul’s photos great!

So if anyone needs a professional ring bearer, Jack is available, but grooms beware he will try to move in on the bride.
